Biff Tannen probably saw this coming in his sports almanac.

The New York Mets selected Cal State Fullerton right-handed pitcher Tommy Wilson with the 560th pick in this week’s Major League Baseball draft, which might have gone largely unnoticed had we not learned he is the son of Thomas F. Wilson, the actor who played Biff in the “Back to the Future” trilogy.

The younger Wilson recorded 78 strikeouts against 21 walks in 82 2/3 innings over 19 appearances for the Titans this past season, registering a 6-0 record and 2.83 ERA in 12 starts. He previously starred at Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame High School, not Hill Valley High, where Biff bullied George McFly.

The elder Wilson is currently starring in the animated series “Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia,” but he is best known for his work opposite Michael J. Fox. While Biff made millions betting on the Grays Sports Almanac that Marty McFly brought back from the future, including a 100-to-1 bet on the Chicago Cubs to win the World Series in 2015, Wilson Sr. isn’t about to take credit for his son’s baseball success.

“He got his mother’s athletic prowess,” Wilson once told the L.A. Times, “and his father’s good looks.”

“They’ll quote the movie sometimes,” his son added of how opposing hitters handle his “Back to the Future” connection. “They try to make jokes about it and stuff, but I try not to focus on that too much.”

I just hope when he strikes someone out, he tells the hitter to “make like a tree and get outta here.”
