Meet a dog with many tricks up his sleeve and a sweet lap cat at this area shelter

Nick Miller

Age: 2 years old

Breed: Mixed breed

Nick Miller is pretty enthusiastic about everything life has to offer. He’s enrolled in a training program at Wayside to teach him to be the best dog he can be, and so far he’s learned a lot.

He knows “sit,” “place,” “wait,” “look” and “touch” — and did we mention he’s house-trained? Smart guy right here. He loves exercising his body and brain, but he also enjoys the casual walk with you. Nick Miller suggests being your only dog, mainly so he can soak up all your affection. He also asks that any children in the home be over the age of 10, so he doesn’t worry about being too energetic for them.

But really, this smart boy is just waiting to meet his people. Is that you? Nick Miller: making lemonade out of lemons since 2020.

Chris Farley

Age: 3 years old

Breed: Domestic shorthair (tabby)

Our shelter is just full of celebrities right now. Chris Farley is looking for his forever home.

He was brought to us by a partnering animal control center who said he was found “down by the river.” This motivational speaker is definitely more pawsitive, because he is as affectionate as can be.

He has a cute purr, and he loves to talk to you. One of this kitty’s favorite things to do is be a lap cat. He is FIV-positive, which is never a negative. This just means he will need regular vet care, as all kitties do. He can live a long and normal life.

If you’re planning to adopt, act quickly. Wayside Waifs is offering $50 pet adoptions for dog and cats 5 months and older, now through March 31.
