UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton won’t be having a second surgery on his injured right knee for a few weeks.

Milton’s mother Teresa said in a statement Saturday that Milton would have reconstructive surgery on his knee in 4-6 weeks depending on how well his vascular recovery goes. Milton suffered a gruesome knee injury against South Florida on Nov. 23 and had a surgery in the hours following the injury to help with bloodflow in his leg.

Teresa Milton also said McKenzie had been discharged from the hospital and would not be at UCF’s AAC title game matchup against Memphis.

“He has been discharged from the hospital and is resting with his family in Orlando. He will need reconstructive surgery in 4-6 weeks depending on his vascular recovery. Doctors are encouraged by how much his toes are already moving. He plans to watch the AAC Championship at home with his Dad while the rest of his family supports the Knights at Spectrum Stadium. He did send a video message to his team that will be played before the game.”

Teresa Milton had previously said McKenzie suffered an injured nerve in his knee.

Darriel Mack Jr. will start in Milton’s place for the undefeated Knights, who will likely head to the Fiesta Bowl with a win over the Tigers. Memphis gave UCF the biggest test of the season in October as the Knights won 31-30 to keep a now-24-game win streak alive.
