Dana Holgorsen has had himself a pretty nice stretch recently, going from hot-seat talk to leading West Virginia to a 10-3 season, earning a five-year extension and salary bump for his efforts.

But that might pale in comparison to having a two-time “Sexiest Man Alive” winner turn to Holgorsen for hair inspiration.

Seriously.

Matthew McConaughey plays Kenny Wells in the upcoming movie “Gold,” and he had to take on a different figure for the role, reportedly adding roughly 40 pounds and wearing a, shall we say, different, hairstyle — one with a balding combover and plenty of locks by the neck area.

If that sounds familiar to West Virginia fans, well, wouldn’t you know it, guess who McConaughey modeled the look after?

From the Austin-American Statesman:

“My dad was always around a lot of guys who looked like Kenny,” McConaughey said in an interview. “They were great consumers of life — whatever they could eat, drink, smoke, kiss and slobber on, they did it.”

He pauses. “But you know where it really came from? I haven’t told anyone else this. I went to the hair lady, said, ‘It’s this guy’s hair,’ and handed her a picture of Dana Holgorsen,” McConaughey said, laughing uproariously.

Alright, alright, alright. Nice of the Texas alum to give that scoop to the local paper. Here’s hoping that tames any jealousy Longhorns fans might have had about one of their own turning to a fellow Big 12 program for help on the big screen.
