📈 Mats Hummels goes from zero to hero on first Roma start

Mats Hummels' career at Roma has not exactly started on the right footing.

The World Cup winner is working under a third manager since arriving in the Italian capital last summer and has found his game time heavily limited.

He made only two substitute appearances for the Giallorossi prior to starting Thursday's Europa League clash with Tottenham, when things weren't much better.

Hummels conceded a penalty inside four minutes for a challenge on Pape Sarr which required a VAR intervention before it was awarded.

Son Heung-min punished the Germany international's mistake by comfortably handing Spurs an early lead from the spot.

But even at the ripe old age of 35, the defender illustrated his class by snatching a late equaliser deep in second-half added time to claim a 2-2 draw.

Is this the moment when Hummels' Roma spell finally takes flight?
