Martha Stewart Says Remote Work Is Going To Send America ‘Down The Drain’

One thing about Martha Stewart: we'll never have to worry about her not telling us how she really feels. And she did exactly that when she was asked to share her thoughts on remote work in an interview with Footwear News.

A clear supporter of in-office work, Stewart went straight for it, explaining that “You can’t possibly get everything done working three days a week in the office and two days remotely."

She then took direct aim at France (sorry, mes amis), using the country as an example of where lax work policies can lead.

"Look at the success of France with their stupid…you know, off for August, blah blah blah. That’s not a very thriving country," she told the publication. "Should America go down the drain because people don’t want to go back to work?"

Given that the debate of remote work vs. in-office work is has endured for the past few years, people on social media had a lot to say about Stewart's stance on the issue.

"Martha need to hush on this one… people who don’t have to worry about child care the price of milk or commuting with a driver to drop them off at the curve may have her opinion," one person on Twitter wrote.

Another user provided this take: "Completely disagree. I work 3 days at home and 2 in. I am in meetings all day when at the office and get more work done at home. My work life balance as a working mom is better bc I can wfh when kids are sick, holiday etc. I use less PTO bc I can stay home and work."

Some have asked for her buddy Snoop Dogg to intervene.

Others were particularly concerned about Stewart's comments about France's work policies.

We think Stewart might need more than just her one-pan pasta recipe to cook her way out of this one.
