Marquese Chriss fined $35K for shoving Luka Doncic into photographer

Don’t mess with the future.

Especially when he’s fresh off an ankle injury.

Golden State Warriors forward Marquese Chriss learned the hard way on Monday the price of getting into it with one of the league’s premier players. It’s exactly $35,000.

The NBA announced on Monday that it’s fining Chriss that amount for shoving Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic during Saturday’s game at Golden State.

The shove

The two were battling for a rebound when Chriss got frustrated with Doncic’s aggression and shoved him into a photographer sitting on the baseline.

Doncic fresh off of injury

Doncic, of course, is in the midst of a breakout second NBA season and looks poised to become a face of the league for the next decade-plus. He was also in the midst of his second game back after missing four with a sprained ankle.

We’re not saying that Chriss wouldn’t have been fined five figures for shoving a player of lesser stature than Doncic. But the fact that it was Doncic certainly didn’t help his cause.

Chriss seeking fine reduction

Chriss’ management team is certainly wondering why the hefty fine, with sources telling Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes that they are looking to get it reduced.

For Chriss, who’s on a one-year deal for the league minimum $1.62 million, that $35,000 means more to him than a lot of other NBA players.
