Mariah Carey announces new album 'The Rarities': 'This one is for you, my fans'

Get excited, Mariah Carey fans – new music is on the way!

The singer, 50, announced a new album, "The Rarities," on Instagram late Tuesday.

"This one is for you, my fans. It's to celebrate us, and to thank you for 🤫 years of pure love and support. I am so grateful to you," she captioned a photo of what appears to be the album cover. In the black and white photo, Carey is seen wearing natural makeup with her hair curled and blowing in the wind.

The album is set for release Oct. 2 and is available for preorder.

The comment section was filled with congratulations and excitement for the project, including from fellow celebrities.

Singer Jordin Sparks wrote, "OH MY GOODNESS! Yes, thank you for this!! 🙌🏽😭"

Choreographer Bryan Tanaka, who is dating Carey, wrote, "I’m so happy for you babe! This album is everything! 🙌🏼😄🙌🏼"

Carey's makeup artist Kristofer Buckle shared a bunch of star emojis.

"The Rarities" announcement comes just months after Carey celebrated 30 years in the music industry. The singer has been a pop icon since her self-titled debut studio album dropped in June 1990.

In December, she hit another milestone, becoming the first artist to have a No. 1 song on Billboard's Hot 100 list in four different decades, according to Billboard.

The song? The timeless "All I Want For Christmas is You." Carey's song was released in 1994.

Carey has now spent time in the No. 1 spot in the '90s, the 2000s, the 2010s and now the 2020s.

The song's ascension to No. 1 comes on the heels of its 25th anniversary.

Speaking with USA TODAY in November, Carey reflected on her song reaching the milestone.

"It's so funny, somebody was just asking me, 'What were you doing 25 Christmases ago?'" Carey said. "I would probably say somebody was giving me a bottle and they were singing me a sweet lullaby Christmas tune. Because I was just 1 year old, so I don't know!

"It's very much like I live in the land of the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus," she said wryly. "I don't acknowledge time; I don't know what it is. I rebuke it!"
