Maple Leafs sign Pierre Engvall to 2-year contract extension

Pierre Engvall has certainly earned himself a spot with the big boys.

The Toronto Maple Leafs inked the 23-year-old forward to a two-year, $1.25-million deal on Wednesday. Engvall was scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season.

Kyle Dubas has once again secured a young player to a proactive economical bridge deal in this situation.

In 35 games since his promotion from the Toronto Marlies, Engvall tallied 7 goals and 7 assists, an impressive debut for the team’s seventh round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Engvall has quickly emerged as one of Toronto’s most versatile forwards, skating on nearly every line as both a winger and a centre, while putting up penalty kill minutes.
