Manitoba Moose forward Tyson Empey handed two-game suspension by AHL
SPRINGFIELD — Manitoba Moose forward Tyson Empey was given a two-game suspension by the American Hockey League on Tuesday for delivering an illegal check to the head.
Empey will miss Manitoba's games on Friday and Saturday, the league said in a release.
The incident occurred in the second period of Manitoba's 3-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs last Sunday at Canada Life Centre.
Empey was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for charging. He drove his right shoulder to the head of Brett Seney as the IceHogs captain crossed the blue line.
Seney was knocked down on the play but stayed in the game.
