Manchester United vs Manchester City line-ups: Matteo Darmian one of five shock changes by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Matteo Darmian will make his first start for Manchester United since January in Wednesday's derby against Manchester City.

Darmian is one of four changes made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the side which suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday.

Andreas Pereira is another surprise name in midfield. Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young also start, while Luke Shaw returns from suspension at left wing-back.

Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Diogo Dalot all lose their places after the defeat at Goodison Park, while Phil Jones drops out through injury.

Darmian's last and only start under Solskjaer came in an FA Cup third round win over Reading.

The Italian is likely to play in a three-man defence alongside Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof, who survive from Sunday's thrashing.

Pep Guardiola makes three changes to the City side which beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 on Saturday, with Vincent Kompany replacing John Stones in the centre of defence.

Kevin De Bruyne drops out of the side as expected after suffering a hamstring injury, while goalscorer Phil Foden must make do with a place on the bench.
