Manchester United news: Romelu Lukaku hits back at Gary Neville’s ‘fat’ jibe ahead of new season with Inter Milan

Romelu Lukaku has hit back at claims from Gary Neville and others that he is overweight by posting a picture of himself during pre-season with Inter Milan.

The former Manchester United striker received criticism for being too muscular and below peak condition last season.

And the Belgian moved on this summer after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided against including him in his plans, instead allowing him to move to the San Siro in a £68m deal.

Gary Neville took aim at Lukaku's conditioning recently, suggesting he was overweight and lacked professionalism.

He tweeted: "He admitted he was overweight! He is over 100kg! He’s a Manchester United player!

"He will score goals and do well at Inter Milan but unprofessionalism is contagious."

While former United defender Gary Pallister also questioned his weight.

"He’s too heavy," Pallister claimed. "You look at the pace in the present game; maybe Ole is looking at that and saying he can’t implement that into his game for me. He was surplus to requirements."

But Lukaku posted a picture on social media showing his impressive condition, before adding another on his story poking fun at the claims.

"Not bad for a fat boy," he wrote, before adding an emoji face with sunglasses.

Lukaku will make his debut for Inter against Lecce on August 26 at the San Siro.
