The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office on Friday identified the man killed in a recent recreational vehicle fire in Los Osos.

Los Osos resident Christopher Wayne Surratt, 44, died when his RV caught fire on Monday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The RV, parked at a turnout on Turri Road east of South Bay Boulevard, was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived, Cal Fire said in a news release on Monday.

Surratt’s body was found inside the RV after the blaze was extinguished.

Initial autopsy reports show that Surratt died from smoke inhalation, the Sheriff’s Office said, but the coroner is waiting for toxicology results before deciding the official cause and manner of death.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting the death investigation, while Cal Fire is conducting the fire investigation, according to the release sent Friday.
