Man City player ratings vs Inter Milan: John Stones drops masterclass in Champions League final

Manchester City saw off a battling Inter Milan to win the Champions League in Istanbul.

Rodri’s second-half strike was enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to conquer Europe for the first time as the Premier League champions completed an historic treble.

Ederson - 8

Not at his brilliant best and almost caught out with a loose ball were Nicolo Barella to have steered his chip goalward. A late save from Romelu Lukaku, however, will go down in City history.

Manuel Akanji - 6

Almost allowed Lautaro Martinez to score when failing to cover the Argentine.

Ruben Dias - 8

An absolute rock in the middle of defence, stepping out on ocassion when trying to break down Inter’s defensive banks.

Nathan Ake - 7

Solid enough, though outshone by Dias.

John Stones - 9

An absolute masterclass, capping off what has been a remarkable few months for the England international. Stepped into a new role and bossed the biggest game of his career.

Rodri - 8

Struggled somewhat in the opening stages but grew into the game and kept his composure to score the goal City have been chasing for 15 years.

Bernardo Silva - 7

Went close with a teasing effort early on and helped see the game out with his bravery in keeping the ball.

Ilkay Gundogan - 7

Another player not at his best but even that was enough to help City keep the ball moving against a compact Inter team.

Kevin De Bruyne - 5

As was the case two years ago, the Belgian’s evening was ended early by way of injury. The best chance of the first-half, however, came when De Bruyne played in Erling Haaland, who drew a good save out of Andre Onana.

Jack Grealish - 6

Like Silva, helped keep the ball and win fouls as City were seeing the game out but not as his best on the attacking front.
