Man, 37, dies after hit-and-run incident on Florin Road in south Sacramento

One man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run incident Saturday in Sacramento County’s Florin neighborhood, authorities said.

Around 9:45 p.m., units with the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento office responded to multiple calls of a pedestrian in the roadway on westbound Florin Road, west of Stockton Boulevard, according to CHP spokesman Officer Mark Leavitt.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the man Sunday as Ivan Bruyako, 37, of Sacramento.

Leavitt said Sunday that the CHP believes he was a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Fire personnel took Bruyako to the hospital with major injuries and he died there, officials said.

The two left-turn lanes of eastbound Florin Road turning onto northbound Stockton Boulevard were closed for about one hour, officials said.

Leavitt said there are no witnesses and no physical evidence pointing to a suspect or suspect vehicle. Follow-up “is still to be done” in an active investigation of the incident, he said.
