Luton vs Arsenal - LIVE!

Declan Rice scored a last-gasp winner to settle a seven-goal thriller at Luton, sparing the blushes of goalkeeper David Raya to send Arsenal five points clear at the top of the Premier League. Luton had looked on course to land a thoroughly deserved draw after two errors from Raya had seen them hit the front - only for the Gunners to rally and win it 4-3 at the death.

Raya embraced Rice at the full-time whistle after Kai Havertz had earlier drawn the visitors level in what proved to be a thrilling contest at Kenilworth Road. The visitors had led 2-1 at half-time as Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus scored either side of a Gabriel Osho equaliser.

Raya, whose role as Arteta's number one continues to be in the spotlight with Aaron Ramsdale warming the bench, then gifted two goals to Luton in the space of eight minutes as Elijah Adebayo and Ross Barkley turned the game on its head. Havertz appeared to have salvaged a point for Arsenal but they pushed on to the last and £105million summer signing Rice nodded in a fine Martin Odegaard cross to wrap up the victory.

Newcastle have emerged as an option for Aaron Ramsdale, should the Arsenal goalkeeper go in search of more regular first-team football.

The Magpies lost Nick Pope to a shoulder injury at the weekend - he may not even play again this season.

Arteta, however, has insisted he wants to keep Ramsdale, although he stopped short of guaranteeing the goalkeeper will be with Arsenal after the January transfer window.

The Gunners are in a strong position with Ramsdale, as the 25-year-old signed a new contract in May until 2026 that also contains the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

“I want Aaron with us,” Arteta said. “I am very happy to have two very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us. I won’t say that no player is going to go to Newcastle, or no member of the staff.

“I cannot guarantee that nobody is going to be leaving in January, for Newcastle or any other club. Like any player, Aaron wants to play for Arsenal."

Mikel Arteta believes Gabriel Jesus has the ability to become a prolific goalscorer for Arsenal.

Jesus has scored just 16 times in 47 matches since his £45million move from Manchester City last year, but launched a passionate defence of his game last week and insisted he brings more to the table than just goals.

Arteta has praised Jesus for his all-round game, but wants the Brazilian, who has scored only one League goal this season, to improve his finishing.

“We need goals from him, that’s for sure,” said Arteta. “He has scored a lot of goals for us and he can still improve in that aspect, like he can improve in other aspects.

“He knows that and he is trying to do that, but there is so much that he gives that it is difficult to put a number on. But I am really happy with his overall performances.

“The reason why he hasn’t done it as well, he hasn’t had the consistency and enough minutes, probably when he was at City as well, to produce those numbers that you need to be doing. But I think he has the ability to do that, for sure.”

The Gunners travel to Kenilworth Road with the belief that their attack has begun to click — and that has coincided with Martin Odegaard's return to form.

Jorginho has told his Arsenal team-mates they need to be more ruthless and kill games off to keep their title charge on track.

The Gunners beat Wolves on Saturday to ensure they stayed top of the Premier League, but it was a nervy finish at the end of the match.

Arsenal had raced into a two-goal lead inside the first 15 minutes thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Wolves, however, hit back four minutes before the end of normal time through Matheus Cunha.

Arsenal survived a late rally from the visitors to claim all three points and Jorginho believes the side must use it as a reminder to kill games off.

“In the Premier League the game is never finished,” he said. “When you are 2-0, you need to think that the game is not finished yet. You need to keep pushing, all the way to have three, four [goals], and respect the game.

“It is a mindset, to be honest, because you have the game completely under control and all of a sudden you stop doing the simple things that you need to keep doing, the things that got you there at that point.

Luton boss Rob Edwards was asked yesterday if the biggest sides in the Premier League were scared of going to Kenilworth Road... he was keen to avoid giving Arsenal any added motivation!

“I think scared would be the wrong word and I definitely don’t want to be quoted on that one because I don’t want to make them angry as well," Edwards.

“It’s just different for them, it just is. It’s [Kenilworth Road] is obviously very, very old school and the level these players and where they’ve been playing consistently for a long time they’re just used to these huge stadiums now- Kenilworth Road is just not that.

“In terms of noise, we may not be as loud because you can’t make the same noise as a ground with 60, 70, 80 thousand. It’s just intense and it’s on top of you so it is different and it’s quite unique.”

Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal are taking no encouragement from Manchester City stumbling in the title race.

City have drawn their last three Premier League games and it has allowed Arsenal to go top of the table.

City came from behind to beat Arsenal to the title last year, overhauling an eight-point gap at the start of April, and Arteta insists he is taking no motivation from their recent struggles.

“Encouragement? No,” he said. “Encouragement comes from watching my team play and watching how they behave every single day, how hungry and willing they are to play every single game, the way they approach every single training session.

“That’s what gives me encouragement. What the others do is something we cannot control.

“I don’t think about [opening up a five-point gap], I think about how we’re going to play better tomorrow and be more consistent and more difficult to beat.

“The things that have to tweak and how we can use our players in the best possible way to win. It’s still a huge marathon ahead of us.”

Mikel Arteta will be tempted to rotate with Aston Villa to come at the weekend as the fixtures continue to come thick and fast, but the squad should have plenty in the tank to rack up another win.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is in a race to prove his fitness ahead of tonight's clash.

The full-back was forced off on Saturday during the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Wolves at Emirates Stadium.

“We assessed him after the game, we took him off as a precaution so we’ll wait,” Arteta said at his pre-match press conference on Monday.

“Whether it’s useful to use him or not, we will decide tomorrow. He’s a strong boy and hopefully he'll be fine.”

If Tomiyasu is out, then Ben White is primed to come into the side. The right-back has had a knee niggle the past few weeks, but is fully fit now.

Kai Havertz is another who could come into the side to take the place of Leandro Trossard in midfield. The German was on the bench against Wolves, but before that had scored two goals in as many games.
