Luis Enrique: "We'll be facing a motivated and confident side"
The Paris Saint-Germain manager answered questions from PSG TV and from the media today ahead of his side’s game against Angers SCO, which kicks off at 21:00 CET tomorrow (Matchday 11 of Ligue 1) at the Stade Raymond Kopa.
ON PARIS'S WASTEFULNESS IN THE Champions League
'It was difficult to talk about Wednesday's game in the heat of the moment because the emotions of it tend to absorb you. We undeniably have a mental block when it comes to finishing, and we need to overcome it through confidence and a collective mindset. On a personal level, I feel very good and am optimistic. This is a project that's both medium-term and long-term, and we know that it'll have highs and lows.'
ON THE SQUAD AVAILABLE TO HIM
'We're not missing any players. I'm very happy with the players that we've got and with our most recent transfer window. It's true that we're lacking efficiency in the Champions League, but we've got ways and means of resolving that. We're going to keep developing and improving, and we need to accept our tricky situation in the Champions League so that we can use our qualities to get out of it.'
ON PARIS'S STYLE OF PLAY
'I look for what's best for my team. I use a centre-forward depending on what I want and depending on the profiles that we have. The characteristics of Luis Enrique's Paris Saint-Germain are attacking and creating danger, and we also need to look at all of the good things that the team is doing. The team will resolve its problem with finishing, which isn't just down to one or two players.'
ON THE TEAM'S ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT IN FRONT OF GOAL
'We use video analysis to identify our areas for improvement, particularly in terms of decision making. As every team does, we also carry out training sessions specifically on finishing. Football is a sport where there are missed chances, but I'll say it again: we will improve because I'm certain that my players are capable of improving.'
ON THE CURRENT RUN OF GAMES
'The most important game for the moment is the one tomorrow. After Wednesday night's game, I think that it's a good thing that we can return to competitive action so quickly. We need to resolve this problem with finishing as a team. In the league, our results are better. I think that with such little rest time between the two games, we'll rotate the team.'
ON ANGERS
'We'll be facing a motivated and confident side that has had some very interesting results in its last four games. Angers have shown that they can not only defend but also use their wingers and their centre-forward to create problems, particularly in transition. It certainly won't be an easy game; there'll be changes made to the team, and I'll need all of my players to be ready.'
