LSU LB Tahj Jones shot Friday, former NFL tackle Brandon Winey charged with attempted murder

Former LSU linebacker Tahj Jones, an NFL draft prospect, was shot by former LSU offensive tackle Brandon Winey, according to police.

Per the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Jones was hospitalized and is in serious condition after undergoing surgery.

Winey has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

"We are aware of (the shooting) and obviously we're praying hard for him and hoping he pulls through," LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette said.

According to police, Winey, a former NFL offensive tackle, "produced a handgun and shot Jones in the abdomen," after a physical altercation between Jones and Winey.

Winey, who played three seasons in the NFL for the Washington Redskins, Denver Broncos and New York Giants, was assigned a $1 million bond.
