Love Island spoilers follow.

Tonight's (June 9) episode of Love Island saw the first recoupling of the season, with one boy left packing his bags.

Following the arrival of new bombshell Sammy Root, the boys were left grafting to avoid being sent home, however for George Fensom, his time in the villa came to an end.

Earlier in the episode, Molly Marsh and Mitchel Taylor appeared to hit the rocks following her date with Sammy – with the musical theatre performer's head seemingly turned.

The revelation that Molly was still open to meeting new people proved difficult for Mitchel, with the gas engineer opting to cool things off in their relationship.

"I don't want to give you the energy I think you deserve, when you're not going to give me any reciprocation back. I'd rather let you do your thing," he said during an emotional confrontation.

"I want you to explore your options, enjoy yourself and if I'm still there when you've done that, there we are and if we're not we're not."

However, news of a recoupling meant that Molly was forced to choose between the two later. Despite their issues, she opted to stick in her couple with Mitchel, explaining that she had to go with what felt right for her in the moment.

Ella also stayed in her couple with Tyrique, Ruchee picked Andre, Catherine chose Zachariah and Jess decided to pursue things with Sammy, following her initial friendship couple with George.

Last to choose was Whitney, who decided to continue her newfound connection with Mehdi – meaning that George was now single and dumped from the villa.

"Leaving the villa on my own tonight obviously isn't how I wanted my experience to end. To be honest with you I just wanted to continue dropping loose game," George said after his exit.

"I'm sure there'll be someone out there for me but it just wasn't in the villa."

Love Island airs on ITV2, and is available via catch up on ITVX and BritBox.
