Louisville defensive back Shaq Wiggins says he is leaving the school and will play his fifth season of college ball elsewhere.

Wiggins, who began his career at Georgia before transferring to Louisville ahead of the 2014 season, will be immediately eligible to play in 2017, as he already has his undergraduate degree.

Wiggins started as a freshman with the Bulldogs in 2013 and earned honorable mention All-ACC recognition in 2015, his first season of eligibility with the Cardinals. Injuries limited Wiggins to just eight games in 2016, and he recorded eight tackles, three pass breakups and one quarterback hurry.

Looking ahead, it’s worth noting that Wiggins played for defensive coordinator Todd Grantham at both Georgia and Louisville, and that Grantham left this offseason to become Mississippi State’s DC.
