Lorde Is Back to Dark Hair at Paris Fashion Week, and Fans Think That Means Something’s Coming

When Jennifer Lawrence said, “What do you mean?” she meant, “What does Lorde mean by this?” The New Zealand–born musician, whose legal name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, has been super quiet ever since the debut of her album Solar Power in 2021 (accompanied by an exit from social media), but a recent appearance at Paris Fashion Week has the stans murmuring.

The “Green Light” singer stepped out for the Miu Miu show, rocking dark hair after being blonde for the last while. Here she is with her brown braids:

“Oh we’re so back,” wrote one commenter. Here’s the blonde fans had become accustomed to:

It looks as though the singer-songwriter may have actually returned to her natural hue a couple weeks prior to Paris Fashion Week, but snapshots she took of herself alone at home didn’t really make waves. Certainly not the waves she made showing up at a full A-list event full of photographers and reporters. The masses aren’t wrong to wonder, Is Lorde launching a new era? Will 2024 bring us new music? Feat. Dev Hynes?

Her stans, by the way, call themselves Ellaphants. Good job, Ellaphants!

Streets are also saying that based on social media, Haim—who are at Paris Fashion Week right now as well—may have new music soon to be announced. (As of midday March 5, the @haimtheband IG account only has three posts up: an anniversary post for their first album, and the announcement posts for their other two albums.)

Honestly, this makes sense for both acts. Lorde released her three albums in 2013, 2017, and 2021; Haim released theirs in 2013, 2017 and 2020. We’re due on both accounts. It’s just math.

People think independent investigative journalism is somehow not thriving, but the stan accounts are out there doing the work.

After the Kiwi’s fashion show appearance, W dubbed her “The Ultimate Miu Miu Girl.” If that’s not a publicist laying the groundwork for something new then I don’t know what.
