Lloyd Scott continues Three Peaks Challenge on 'steep and sharp' Scafell Pike

Lloyd Scott's Three Peaks Challenge is well underway and the charity fundraiser reckons scaling Scafell Pike is proving an even greater challenge than Ben Nevis - all while dressed in a deep-sea diving suit weighing 130lbs.

Lloyd reached the summit of the highest mountain in the UK on Monday and is continuing his challenge to raise money for the Lord’s Taverners, who help disadvantaged and disabled young children who are battling loneliness and isolation.

The 58-year-old, who will round off his challenge by climbing Mount Snowdon, is currently halfway up Scafell Pike and admits despite Ben Nevis’ higher summit, he’s fighting an uphill battle on England’s highest mountain.

“It’s been different - I thought Ben Nevis was steep but it’s not as steep as this one!” said Lloyd, who completed the London Marathon in 2002 while dressed in his famous suit.

“It’s a bit shorter and sharper, and there is less distance, but the incline is steeper.

“We’re in a good position to kick on tomorrow and get to the summit - we’ll rest up, look forward to completing the job and we are where we wanted to be.

“Everyone is in brilliant spirits, we’ve had some fantastic support and we’ve been laughing and chuckling our way up the paths.

"I’ve enjoyed it and I’d like to think if you asked the people who have been part of the team and supported, with which I could have never got anywhere near where I am at the moment, that they’ve had some fun, laughs and giggles along the way.”
