Liverpool XI vs Man City: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Community Shield

Liverpool are without Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota for today’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City in Leicester.

Both first-choice goalkeeper Alisson and deputy Caoimhin Kelleher are struggling with knocks, meaning Adrian starts at the King Power Stadium this afternoon.

"Ali trained today more than the day before, so he will definitely be available for Fulham, but not for the weekend,” said Reds boss Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match press conference.

"Diogo is not here with us so how could he play a football game? It will take a while, unfortunately."

Klopp has since confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a significant hamstring injury.

Darwin Nunez, meanwhile, is on the bench for the Reds, meaning any direct comparisons with Erling Haaland will have to be delayed.

Roberto Firmino has been talked up by Klopp, who quashed suggestions that the Brazilian could be sold to Juventus, and he gets the nod to start alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara are favoured in midfield, with Naby Keita among those on the bench. Joel Matip partners Virgil van Dijk in central defence.

Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago, Firmino, Salah, Diaz.

Subs: Davies, Gomez, Konate, Milner, Keita, Jones, Elliott, Nunez, Carvalho.
