As part of Liverpool's new-look attack, Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to acquire the signature of Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho.

The 19-year-old came close to joining the Reds in the January transfer window, but Liverpool remained patient and completed the deal this summer for a reported £5million fee. The Portuguese attacking midfielder thrived in the Championship last season, scoring 10 goals and registering eight assists as the Cottagers earned promotion. Having now been announced as a Liverpool player, Carvalho expressed his excitement at the opportunity of playing at Anfield next season.

"It's just an amazing feeling to be here at one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest. So, I'm just happy to be here and I can't wait to get started," said Carvalho. "Once you hear that Liverpool are interested, there's only one thought in your mind, which is to join them and try to be in and around the team. Hopefully I can achieve big things. "I spoke with everyone, and the manager, and it just felt so natural. When things become natural it's just so much easier to make a decision. "I don't think you really need any persuasion to become a Liverpool player because of how big the club is." Carvalho was unveiled as a Liverpool player on Monday, and it was confirmed that he'll wear the No.28 shirt for the Reds in the 2022/23 season.

Despite having little experience under his belt, the former Fulham star believes playing under Marco Silva last season will help him adapt to Liverpool's style of play. "Marco Silva, the way he plays football and made us play football, is more like attacking football and getting goals, which is similar to how Liverpool play, which is to score goals and dominate games," he added. "That's what I'm here to do, to be able to help the team with my assists, creativity and goals. I'm looking forward to it." Carvalho joins Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez as recent incomings at Anfield, as he joins up with a heavily stacked striking department ready to try and fire Liverpool to the Premier League title.
