Liverpool and Manchester United target Christian Pulisic open to Premier League move

Christian Pulisic says the Premier League is where “lots of kids dream of playing”.

The United States international, who will play against England at Wembley on Thursday night, has been pursued by all of the Premier League’s top clubs and has just 18 months left on his Borussia Dortmund contract. He is expected to be sold next summer, with Dortmund struggling to agree a new deal with a player who would earn far more in the Premier League.

Liverpool have a long-standing interest in Pulisic, who joined Dortmund in 2015 when Jurgen Klopp was still in charge.

They bid £11million for him in August 2016, but Dortmund said no. Tottenham enquired after Pulisic in 2017 while Chelsea and Manchester United have also been keen on the young United States international who will likely soon be up for sale. Not only is Pulisic one of the most exciting youngsters in the game at the age of 20, his nationality also makes him a lucrative commercial opportunity.

Asked about the links to Premier League clubs today, Pulisic said how exciting everyone found English football, and said there was no reason to rule out the possibility of a move here.

“England, the Premier League, is a league where lots of kids dream of playing,” he said. “So there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here.”

But Pulisic insisted he was enjoying his season at Borussia Dortmund, who are flying in the Bundesliga, and that he was happy to focus on his football for now, rather than his future.

“We are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that,” he said. “When the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, then that’s when those things happen. Reading these articles [about me], I tend to stay away from that stuff. I know it is going to be there but it is not my priority.”
