Recap: Florida defeats South Carolina in super regional to reach College World Series

Game 2 of the Gainesville Super Regional will not start on time.

South Carolina and Florida were schedule face off at 3 p.m. Saturday, with the Gamecocks needing a win to stay alive in the NCAA Tournament. Thunderstorms rolled through the area Saturday afternoon, and after putting the tarp on the field, Florida announced a 5:36 p.m. time for first pitch. The game will begin airing on ESPN2 and transition to ESPN News at 6 p.m.

The No. 2 seed Gators (49-15) lead the best-of-three series 1-0 and advance to the College World Series with a victory Saturday. If the No. 15 Gamecocks (42-20) win, a decisive third game would take place Sunday.
