🔴 LIVE: Arsenal retake lead in frantic start against Palace

As any seasoned Premier League-watcher knows, Christmas is where we separate the wheat from the chaff.

With that in mind, there are five games for you to enjoy today which could have a huge impact on the table come the end of the season.

You can follow all the action right here.

Crystal Palace v Arsenal

Scorers: Sarr 11; Jesus 6', 15'

Gabriel Jesus picked up where he left off against the hosts in midweek by opening the scoring early on courtesy of a sweeping finish at the far post.

The Eagles struck back just five minutes later through Ismaïla Sarr firing across David Raya after being teed up by Tyrick Mitchell in the build-up.

But Jesus doubled his tally with second Premier League goal this season for the Gunners by drilling home a lay-off from Thomas Partey inside the penalty area.

Alexander the great

Scorers: Isak 1' 45+1' 54', Murphy 32'

Alexander Isak netted a superb hat-trick to secure Newcastle's 4-0 win away at Ipswich.

Newcastle made just one enforced change from the side that beat Leicester last time out as Joelinton was replaced by Sandro Tonali after the Brazilian's suspension.

The ball was in the back of the Ipswich net inside one minute as Alexander Isak fired in and after a lengthy VAR check the goal was given!

Eddie Howe's side then doubled their advantage just after the half hour mark as Jacob Murphy crashed an effort in off the crossbar.

The Magpies were cruising and went further ahead just before the break as Isak bagged his second who tapped in for a third.

Isak then got his third of the game just after the break with another composed finish.

Fantastic Forest

Scorers: Aina 38', Elanga 50'

Brentford's unbeaten run at home was ended by Nottingham Forest as Nuno's side won 2-0 in west London.

Nottingham Forest had a chance to put further space between themselves and Manchester City in the race for the top four with a win against home giants Brentford.

It was the hosts who looked most likely to score in the opening exchanges with Bryan Mbeumo whipping in a glorious ball on the half hour mark with no one there to convert.

Chris Wood has been a man in form this season and the New Zealand international almost netted a header only for Mark Flekken to save brilliantly to keep it goalless.

But Forest did get their goal just before the break as Ola Aina finished to silence the home crowd.

Into the second half and Forest got their second almost immediately as Anthony Elanga rifled in an effort with his left foot.

Points shared

Scorers: Kudus 57'; Wieffer 51'

West Ham and Brighton shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium

Julen Lopetegui kept Niklas Füllkrug in attack as his West Ham side welcomed Brighton to east London who were licking their wounds after derby defeat to Crystal Palace last time.

It was Jarrod Bowen who had the best chance early on but the Hammers winger fired over.

Into the second half and Brighton looked like a team revived and they broke the deadlock thanks to Mats Wieffer.

It didn't take long for West Ham to get an equaliser though as Mohammed Kudus followed-up on a Bowen effort and headed in.

Both teams pushed for a winner late on and the Seagulls should have got a winner with five minutes to go but Yankuba Minteh hit the post when it looked easier to score.

Rogers rises to the occasion

Scorers: Duran 17', Rogers 65'; Foden 90+2'

Morgan Rogers was the star of the show as the youngster scored one and created the other as Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1.

With just one win in 11 games, City travelled to Villa Park in the midst of their worst crisis since the days of Stuart Pearce.

It took just 15 seconds for Villa to have their first chance but Jhon Duran snatched at an effort from the edge of the area when he really should have done better.

City persisted with their high line and were made to pay on 17 minutes as Youri Tielemans played a stunning ball through to Rogers, who squared to Duran for the striker to finish.

Grealish impressed down the left-hand side and it was his cross that produced the best chance for City just before the break as he clipped in for Josko Gvardiol, who headed just over the bar.

Into the second half and Duran had the ball in the back of the net soon after but his goal was ruled out for an offside.

But Villa doubled their lead just after the hour mark as Rogers finished off a sumptuous move with a neat finish inside the area.

Pep Guardiola's side pulled one back right at the death as Phil Foden prodded in but it wasn't enough as Villa claimed the points.

Sunday sees five more games with the headline attraction coming from north London as Tottenham host Liverpool.
