Lions release defenders Gaitor and Burnett

The BC Lions made a pair of cuts Tuesday night, partying ways with defensive back Anthony Gaitor and linebacker Tony Burnett.

SURREY — The BC Lions made a pair of cuts Tuesday night, partying ways with defensive back Anthony Gaitor and linebacker Tony Burnett.

Gaitor emerged in the second half of 2016, earning a starting spot in the Leos secondary. In January, Gaitor signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints but was waived by the NFL club before re-joining the Lions. in 12 games this season, Gaitor had 38 tackles and one interception.

Burnett signed with the Leos as a free agent in Februrary and has 26 defensive tackles and another 8 special teams tackles in 14 game.
