LeBron James celebrates title by watching 'The Last Dance,' calls it 'doing my homework'

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is always working. Even when it looks like James is taking a break and watching a documentary, he’s secretly studying.

James confirmed as much Wednesday, sending out a video in which he was sitting in bed watching “The Last Dance.” While we assume James was entertained by the ESPN documentary, he had other reasons for watching Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls win their sixth ring. James called it “doing my homework.”

James was clearly enthralled by the documentary. He posted seven videos of “The Last Dance” on his Instagram story Wednesday night.

It’s not the first time James watched “The Last Dance.” In April, James said he nearly cried when he saw Jordan win his first ring on “The Last Dance.”

What is LeBron James trying to tell us with ‘Last Dance’ video?

Is there any hidden meaning behind James’ “Last Dance” videos? The most likely explanation is that James is doing his homework on how to win another ring. The Lakers’ victory gives James four championships. Jordan won six, so James has to win two more to match Jordan. Studying Jordan’s approach and style isn’t a terrible strategy.

The lesser option is that maybe James is considering retirement and thinking about his own “Last Dance” season. That feels unlikely, as James is still playing at a high level, and there are rumblings James could try to stay in the NBA so he can play with his son.

James can’t play forever, though. When the time comes where James wants to call it quits, maybe he’ll take a few notes from Jordan and crew about how to go out at the top of his game.
