Lazio Set for Major Rotation Against Ajax – Ex Milan Captain Ruled Out of the Clash
Lazio will change their skin once again when they lock horns with Ajax on Thursday night in Amsterdam, but Alessio Romagnoli will remain in Rome.
Alessio Romagnoli to Miss Amsterdam Trip
The former Milan defender suffered a sprain in his left knee during Sunday’s away victory over Napoli, forcing him to leave the pitch in the second half. According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the 29-year-old will remain at Formello so he can work on regaining his best condition for Monday’s Serie A showdown against Napoli.
Lazio Coach Marco Baroni to Rotate his Lineup
Romagnoli was likely to be dropped regardless of his injury, like the majority of the players who started at the Maradona on the weekend, as Marco Baroni often rotates his lineup for the midweek fixtures. Patric and Samuel Gigot should start at the back, while Luca Pellegrini should occupy the left-back slot after returning from a brief stop. Manuel Lazzari and Adam Marusic will be vying for a spot on the opposite flank.
Nicolo Rovella Returns to Action
After serving a one-match ban in Serie A, Nicolo Rovella will definitely get the nod in the middle of the park, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is tipped to maintain his place with Matteo Guendouzi getting some well-deserved rest. Loum Tchaouna, Pedro and Tijjani Noslin are expected to break into the starting lineup, with one between Taty Castellanos and Boulaye Dia completing the attack.
Lazio Probable XI (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Lazzari (Marusic), Gigot, Patric, Pellegrini; Dele-Bashiru, Rovella; Tchaouna, Pedro, Noslin; Castellanos (Dia).
