It doesn’t sound like Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s child support drama is ending anytime soon.

Last week, Federline and his attorney met with Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, about increasing his monthly child support payments. He says the $20,000 he already receives per month isn’t enough to support the two sons they share — Sean Preston, 12, and Jayden, 11 — and the lifestyle they’ve grown accustomed to. This comes just nine months after K-Fed called co-parenting with Britney “easy.”

The Blast, which was first to report on Federline’s request for more money, claims that Jamie Spears responded to his former son-in-law’s request. Only instead of offering any more money, Team Spears outlined a monthly budget for Federline. The letter sent by Britney’s legal team lays out how the current monthly payment should be spent, which reportedly left Federline feeling “pissed” and “insulted.”

Federline’s attorney tells the outlet, “Unfortunately, the proposal that came back amounted to no modification of support, but it indicated to me that Mr. Spears has to recognize that he is the conservator for Britney and not for Kevin.”

A court placed Britney under the conservatorship of her father following her 2008 breakdown. While she now has more liberty over her personal affairs, Jamie has still been in control of her estate and finances. In fact, that’s something Federline praised just years ago.

“It was extremely tough watching her go through a phase where she was clearly not OK right after the divorce. There’s a lot more I could have done to help,” Federline told Us Weekly in 2015. “Taking full custody of the boys sucked the life out of me, but it was for them. I have to give Britney’s dad, Jamie, a lot of credit for saving her. He made it so I could actually deal with her again.”

The former backup dancer even said he and Britney were now on the “same page” parenting-wise.

“There are no grudges,” he told the magazine. “We communicate on disciplining the kids, and if they’re grounded here, they’re grounded there. She’s a completely different person — as the kids will tell you!”

In 2016, Federline maintained that the two were great co-parents despite a rocky start following their 2007 divorce. “All I was trying to do was get 50/50 custody,” he recalled to Entertainment Tonight. “You know, events that unfolded over time, if you want to Google them and go back and look at them, then you’ll see why it turned out the way that it did. … But now, none of that matters. Everything is cool. Both of us have moved on; our kids are doing great.”

He even confirmed that he received $20,000 a month in child support but said it was “definitely not anything to brag about.”

“It’s not something that I asked for either,” he added. “It’s all about the kids. That’s what it’s for. … They’re supposed to be able to live a life that they’re accustomed to. If the shoe was on the other foot, I’d be in those shoes. Smiling and being full-willing.”

According to TMZ, Jamie Spears will demand to see Federline’s 2017 tax return to see if he’s working for a living or just living off of Britney’s money. Federline’s attorney sent Jamie Spears the same letter, demanding to see Britney’s 2017 tax return. Team Federline keeps harping on the fact that Spears has made significantly more money since their child support arrangement was reached a decade ago.

The outlet also says that Jamie Spears isn’t budging on the money, as he’s convinced that Federline is misusing some of his monthly funds to support his other four children. Federline has fathered six children with three women: his two sons with Spears, two daughters with current wife Victoria Prince, and a son and daughter with former fiancée Shar Jackson.
