Lamar Jackson throws at NFL scouting combine, to mixed reviews
Yes, Lamar Jackson worked out as a quarterback on Saturday.
The madness about Jackson doing some receiver drills has seemingly passed, and the Louisville quarterback got a chance to show off his skills as a passer on Saturday with the rest of the early quarterback group. Like just about everything else with the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner, the reaction to his workout was mixed.

Mostly, it seemed like his best plays came in the middle of the field, where he showed good accuracy.
These throws from Lamar Jackson over the middle were money.

Jackson also was sharp on some deep throws, effortlessly pushing the ball downfield.

If there was an issue, it came on out-breaking routes. When it came to throws outside the numbers, Jackson wasn’t quite as accurate.
Jackson much better on everything breaking in/working back. Struggles working outside the numbers. Same on tape.

Can see some of the footwork changes Lamar Jackson has made. Still missing high on throws outside the hashes—same issue on tape.

Lots of ups and downs for all these QBs, including Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Neither have been particularly impressive, but definitely better than the rest of the group, as expected

Jackson is perhaps the draft’s most interesting player. While he’s clearly a quarterback, and every team executive who was asked at the combine said Jackson was on their board as a quarterback, there’s disagreement about how much refinement he’ll need to succeed in the NFL. But the production at Louisville is undeniable, and his honesty and charisma at the combine has been a positive as well.
From one team personnel man who interviewed Lamar Jackson at the combine: "A truly special person. Wow'd everyone in the interview. I'd feel comfortable turning over the team to him."

Don’t sleep on @Lj_era8 the guy is one of the coldest people I’ve ever watched…crazy crazy speed that can’t be replicated. Personally I think without a doubt he’s a QB pic.twitter.com/JJJjLYv29v

Jackson didn’t run the 40-yard dash at the combine, which isn’t a big deal. It’s not hard to put on the film and see he has exceptional speed.

Jackson will get another shot at his pro day to throw, and he’ll come out of the combine with a clear idea of what he has to work on. There probably will never be a consensus on Jackson’s draft value, but it will take only one team loving Jackson’s skill set to make him their quarterback of the future.
