Kings-Jazz gameday live: Injury updates on Kevin Huerter, Trey Lyles, Lauri Markkanen

The Kings hope to wrap up a perfect road trip when they visit the Utah Jazz on Monday at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, but they might be missing two key rotation players for the second game in a row.

Starting shooting guard Kevin Huerter and backup forward Trey Lyles are questionable due to injuries after sitting out Saturday’s 132-118 victory over the Washington Wizards. Huerter is recovering from a right popliteus strain. Lyles is experiencing right shoulder soreness.

The Kings (43-27) are a season-high 16 games over .500 as they close in on their first playoff appearance since 2006. They are tied with the Memphis Grizzlies for second in the Western Conference, four games behind the top-seeded Denver Nuggets and 5 ½ games ahead of the No. 4 Phoenix Suns.

The Kings have won 11 of 13 since the All-Star break and three in a row to open their current four-game road trip. They will return to Sacramento to open a four-game homestand with a marquee matchup against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday at Golden 1 Center.

The Jazz (34-36) is tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers for ninth in the West. All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen is questionable for Monday’s game against the Kings due to back soreness. Jordan Clarkson (hand) and Collin Sexton (hamstring) are out.

Utah has won three of its last four games, including a 118-117 win over the Celtis on Saturday. Markkanen scored 28 points after pouring in 38 in a loss to the Miami Heat.

Ruled out

The Jazz has ruled Markkanen out for Monday’s game against the Kings. Markkanen is averaging 25.4 points and 8.6 rebounds.
