Kings-Bucks gameday live: Terence Davis injury update; Early returns on Khris Middleton

One of the NBA’s hottest teams will be put to the test against one of the Eastern Conference’s preeminent powers when the Kings open a six-game road trip against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday at Fiserv Forum.

The Kings (13-9) have won three in a row and 10 of 13 to move into fourth in the Western Conference, just two games behind the first-place Phoenix Suns. The Kings have gone 13-5 since going 0-4 to start the season.

Kings guard Terence Davis is questionable after missing Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bulls due to lower back soreness. Two-way player Keon Ellis accompanied the team to Milwaukee and will be available for Wednesday’s game.

Davis is averaging 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds. He has scored in double figures five times this season, including a season-high 31 points in a 153-121 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 15.

The Bucks (17-6) are coming off back-to-back road wins over the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic. They’ve won five of their last six and are second in the East, two games behind the Boston Celtics.

Marjon Beauchamp and Serge Ibaka are listed as probable with non-COVID-19 illnesses. Joe Ingles is out as he continues to recover from ACL surgery.

Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.9 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists for Milwaukee. Antetokounmpo had 34 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in Monday’s win over Orlando.

All-Star forward Khris Middleton made his season debut last week after recovering from offseason wrist surgery. He scored 17 points in his first game against the Los Angeles Lakers, but he was held to five points on 1-of-11 shooting in his second game against the Magic.

Latest on Davis

Davis participated in Sacramento’s morning shootaround along with the rest of his teammates. The Kings said his status for Wednesday’s game will be determined later in the day.

Matthews ruled out

Bucks guard Wesley Matthews has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Kings after entering NBA health and safety protocols. Matthews has appeared in 18 games this season, averaging 3.2 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field and 50% from 3-point range on 1.5 attempts per game.
