Khabib wants Georges St-Pierre to postpone retirement for one last fight

Legendary MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre is expected to announce his retirement on Thursday, but Khabib Nurmagomedov isn’t ready to accept it.

Khabib took to Instagram on Wednesday and posted a photo of himself and St-Pierre with their belts, along with a message begging St-Pierre to postpone his retirement until the two of them can meet in the Octagon for the final fight of St-Pierre’s career.

“Let’s do it in November.
After this fight you can retire. I grow up on your fights, and have nothing but respect for you, and I believe showed that to you George when you were in Moscow.
But, it would be honor for me to share Octagon with one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Let’s do it 155 lbs, or I give away 5lbs to you, cause you newer done 155.
Well, it’s your choice 155 or 160, Montreal, NYC, Moscow or Abu Dhabi.
Send me location my Friend”

That might be the most respectful social media callout of all time. Khabib is willing to fight St-Pierre anywhere (besides Las Vegas, of course), and at whichever weight St-Pierre is comfortable with. If St-Pierre fought and won at 155, he would be the first UFC fighter in history to hold a title in three different weight classes.

Khabib said on Instagram that he’s willing to fight, but things appear to be a bit more complicated than that. According to MMA reporter Benoit Beaudoin, St-Pierre’s forthcoming retirement is a result of failed fight negotiations with Khabib and his team. It’s not known what caused the negotiations to fail, but Khabib might be trying to buy a little more time for negotiations with his Instagram post.

Khabib’s trying, but St-Pierre may have made up his mind already.

Oof. Doesn’t seem like there’s much hope for a GSP/Khabib fight. Even the undefeated Khabib can’t win ’em all.
