Keyshawn Johnson arrested on suspicion of battery on ex-girlfriend

Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, an ESPN analyst, was arrested Monday in California on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery following allegations of an incident involving his former girlfriend.

Johnson, 41, is free in lieu of $20,000 bail after being taken into custody

"Officers determined that the resident and his ex-girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

According to a report, Johnson smashed his girlfriend's phone and caused a cut on her hand. Per the report, they were arguing over marriage.

"I would like to apologize to my family, friends, fans, colleagues and, of course, to Jennifer for what happened last night at my home in Calabasas," Johnson said in a statement released through ESPN. "Though the true facts will come out as part of the legal process, I can say now, without hesitation, that I did not hit, grab or strike Jennifer, nor would I ever touch her or any woman in anger. I am cooperating with the authorities and will continue to do so to ensure that this personal matter is fairly and expediently resolved."
