Kevin Durant suffers calf strain, will have MRI before Game 6

The Golden State Warriors won Game 5 against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, but may be looking at a Game 6 and beyond without their best player.

Kevin Durant landed awkwardly and left for the locker room late in the third quarter after hitting a jump shot to give Golden State a 68-65 lead. The team announced that he suffered a calf strain and that he’s scheduled to have an MRI on Thursday. His status to travel for Game 6 is not clear.

Steve Kerr: ‘It’s not the Achilles’

Head coach Steve Kerr told reporters that he was assured that Durant had not suffered an Achilles injury, the initial fear after Durant clutched his lower leg on the non-contact injury.

Durant was seen limping in the postgame locker room and told reporters “we’ll know more tomorrow” when asked about his injury.
