Kevin de Bruyne admits he is ready to sign a new contract at Manchester City, describing the current situation at the club as “superb”.

The Belgian has been in the north-west since the summer of 2015 after making a switch from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg and still has another four years to run on his contract.

Nevertheless, after a stellar start to the season in which the midfielder has helped City to the top of the Premier League table, the club’s hierarchy are clearly keen to ensure he stays.

Pep Guardiola went as far to say that De Bruyne is one of the best players he has ever seen.

And that feeling of love is clearly mutual.

“I am very happy at City,” De Bruyne said after the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace this weekend.

“Everything is going well for me. I have no reason to go anywhere else. The project City have is superb, so it's best for me.”

The 26-year-old revealed that he has not entered formal discussions over a new deal, but believes that process will soon begin.

“There has not really been a conversation,” he explained. “We both waited until the transfer window was over. They have spoken with [agent] Patrick [de Koster] in the summer: and said give us time to make the transfers and we speak after the summer.

“That will soon happen, I think. I'm not thinking it has to happen fast. I have a four-year contract. Whether I'm four, five or six years under contract, that does not change much, but it’s nice the club have so much confidence in me.”
