Kate Beckinsale, 49, Responds to Plastic Surgery, Botox Rumors With Epic Comeback
  • Kate Beckinsale, 49, recently responded to critics accusing her of having plastic surgery.

  • Many commenters say “it’s not possible” for the 50-year-old star to look the way she does naturally.

  • Beckinsale opened up about the claims and shared her thoughts on cosmetic procedures.

Kate Beckinsale recently walked the red carpet at the 2023 Cannes Festival. She looked stunning in a green, semi-sheer gown that showed off her incredibly toned abs and legs. There’s no doubt that the star was absolutely glowing. But, online shamers were more concerned with her face than her outfit—insisting that Beckinsale has had plastic surgery, botox, and fillers. Now, she’s getting honest about cosmetic procedures, taking the opportunity to set the record straight.

“At the Pot au Feu premiere, 76th Cannes Festival in my dream dress-remembering my first time on these steps 30 years ago in scuffed steel toe capped Dr. Martens. Both magical 💚,” Beckinsale captioned her photo, before drama ensued in the comments section.

A number of commenters discuss her appearance in depth, making all sorts of cosmetic procedure accusations—that Beckinsale denied.

“Please tell me you had a facelift because it’s not possible to be this gorgeous at 50 ❤️❤️❤️,” wrote one well-meaning fan.

“I haven’t sorry,” Beckinsale (who turns 50 next month) responded. “Maybe in July, everything will start falling off lol x.”

“Lol why do Celebrities have to deny their face procedures? Just don’t lie about it..she still looks great!” another commented.

“I haven’t had a facelift or filler or Botox. I’m not lying and I don’t have to accept people accusing me of things I haven’t done,” Beckinsale wrote back.

“Very pretty! Oh wait! She does get Botox and fillers done! Each to its own...just admit it and it’s so obvious,” another commented.

“I don’t,” Beckinsale wrote, shutting down the rumors once and for all. “I actually can’t, I have a condition called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome which is actually a massive daily struggle and means I react to hundreds of things badly. Can’t take the risk.”

Many of her fans appreciated the star opening up about her condition. “I have this too and it’s awful. I’m sorry. It has to be frustrating to constantly defend yourself,” one fan responded.

Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) “causes a person to have repeated severe allergy symptoms affecting several body systems,” according to the Genetic and Rare Diseases Information Center (GARD). “In MCAS, mast cells mistakenly release too many chemical agents, resulting in symptoms in the skin, gastrointestinal tract, heart, respiratory, and neurologic systems.” These symptoms can be brought on by a number of factors, and can include abdominal pain, cramping, diarrhea, flushing, itching, wheezing, coughing, lightheadedness, rapid pulse, and low blood pressure, GARD explains.

It makes sense that Beckinsale doesn’t want to take the risk of cosmetic injections or unnecessary surgeries for the sake of her appearance. However, she does explain in the comments that while she’s never had botox, filler, threads, or a nose job (as many commenters insisted), she does get “facials with PRP to boost collagen and microcurrent for skin tightening and oxygen. I probably would try laser but I’m a bit scared. Haven’t so far,” she explained.

Many of Beckinsale’s fans offered support for the star.

“Yes, she’s an absolutely beautiful woman who happens to also be older than 20-40 something. Let’s normalize that people do not immediately enter crypt keeper status due to their number of years on the planet,” one fan wrote. “Take care of your health, laugh a lot, wear sunscreen, and be kind...is a good start. Kate is one of the great beauties and undercover comedy goddesses of our time ❣️👌.”

“To me saying you look gorgeous for your age 50, is a backslide insult,” another commented. “You look gorgeous just as you are. I bet you will look more gorgeous at 60 / 70/ 80/ 90. You are young looking, but more importantly, you have a young spirit.”

Cheers to that!
