Karl-Anthony Towns donates $100K to aid Mayo Clinic's coronavirus testing efforts
While many of his peers are donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to the part-time arena workers who will be out of work while the coronavirus outbreak continues, Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns is doing something different.

The All-Star center announced Sunday he was donating $100,000 to Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic to support its roll-out of a coronavirus test.
Karl-Anthony Towns makes a different kind of coronavirus donation
As the coronavirus spreads throughout the world, the country’s shortage of tests for the virus has become a major worry for experts and a major point of contention for politicians.
Before Towns, a number of players — including Kevin Love, Zion Williamson, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Blake Griffin — had made donations to support their team’s part-time arena workers. Other athletes, like Stephen Curry and J.J. Watt — have made donations to food banks to help those in need during the crisis.
Hopefully, Towns’ donation will help address the underlying problem. As for Towns, he figures to be off the court for at least a few months as the NBA reportedly eyes mid-June as the best-case scenario for a resumption of its season.
