Kaepernick denies TMZ report, says allegations 'completely wrong'

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick issued a strong denial today, breaking his silence after he was named in a Miami police department suspicious incident report involving a w oman.

TMZ reported that Kaepernick was being investigated for sexual assault. The incident report doesn't allege sexual misconduct.

“The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong," Kaepernick said in a statement. "They make things up about me that never happened. I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up.

“I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced.”

The police report lists Kaepernick, 49ers receiver Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette as suspects.

The woman told police she has had a sexual relationship in the past with Kaepernick.
