It’s been quite the month for the Warner family, and it’s only getting better.

Less than two weeks after Kurt Warner was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, his son, Kade, committed Thursday night to Nebraska as a walk-on receiver.

Kade Warner will join the Cornhuskers this summer after starring at Desert Mountain (Ariz.) High but not receiving any FBS offers.

Warner scored 35 touchdowns over three seasons, according to the Omaha World-Herald. And the apple doesn’t fall from the tree, as the younger Warner, having seen up-close the roundabout path his father took to football’s greatest heights, is set on proving doubters wrong.

“There’s definitely a chip on my shoulder,” he said. “I’m going to work as hard as I can and try to outwork guys and earn a spot on the field. The goal for everybody is obviously to play at the college level. So I’ll play with some fire, being underrated and not getting any looks. I just come in with the same mentality: I believe in myself, I believe in what I can do.”

Interestingly enough, Kade Warner is the third son of a famous football figure to join Nebraska’s 2017 class, as the Huskers had also added Keyshawn Johnson Jr. and Ben Miles, the son of former LSU coach Les Miles.
