Judge won't expedite Ezekiel Elliott case, ensuring he'll play Sunday vs. Washington

Ezekiel Elliott will be able to play in the Dallas Cowboys‘ Week 8 game against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, after a federal judge’s ruling early Monday.

Judge Katherine Polk Failla of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York rejected a request from the NFL for an expedited hearing on Elliott’s injunction of his six-game suspension. The hearing will be held, as originally scheduled, on Oct. 30.

That means that Elliott will be able to play Sunday.

The second-year back, who received his suspension from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for violation of the league’s personal-conduct policy after being accused by an ex-girlfriend of domestic abuse (prosecutors in Ohio, where the alleged incidents happened, did not charge Elliott), had a stellar day against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, rushing for 147 yards on 26 carries, and adding a 72-yard reception. He had three total touchdowns.
