Judy Sheindlin, better known as Judge Judy, talked about a wide range of topics on Megyn Kelly Today this morning, including gun control in the wake of several school shootings and the #MeToo movement. On gun control, Judge Judy said she supports raising the minimum age for purchasing rifles to 21, adding that “it’s crazy” teenagers can legally buy long guns.

“If it were me, it would be older, but I would accept 21,” she said. She continued that “it would be the right thing for the president to say, ‘You can’t buy a gun unless you’re 21 years old.’”

Following the Parkland shooting, President Trump briefly entertained raising the minimum age for purchasing rifles to 21, but that idea was quickly scuttled due to pressure from the NRA.

And keeping her critics in mind, Judge Judy said that she understands the perspective of a gun owner. She herself was a proud gun owner until, she joked, carrying it became too heavy and put holes in her pants.

Another issue that has proved divisive among some is the #MeToo movement, which aims to address sexual misconduct. Judge Judy, following a joke that she was never hit on by Harvey Weinstein, said in the past she didn’t think twice about sexist comments. “As a young lawyer, I remember going into courtrooms and a couple of male judges saying, ‘You have great legs,’” she said. “I said thank you. It didn’t make me feel uncomfortable. Now, it does.”

However, she was careful to draw a line and told a story about a photo op for charity where she reconsidered putting her arm around someone.

“I put my hand on his shoulder,” she said. “I would never have thought about that being inappropriate but for now. I think the #MeToo movement is an important movement, and I don’t think it should be abused.”
