Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas celebrated as kids and as major winners

Not long after Justin Thomas won the 2017 PGA Championship in impressive fashion, an old photo began circulating on social media of Thomas and his pal Jordan Spieth, hanging out during a junior golf tournament in—get ready to feel old—2007.

Yes, that’s Thomas up there with the hamburger stuffed in his face. That’s four majors in that photo right there, with more likely to come. It’s reminiscent of the old photo of the Lions’ Matthew Stafford and the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw, who played Little League baseball together:

Spieth and Thomas have remained very, VERY close, as you can see from Spieth’s celebration upon Thomas’s victory:

Spieth, Rickie Fowler, and Bud Cauley all stuck around to watch their friend finish out his first major, and Thomas was clearly touched by the gesture. “I think that kind of shows, you know, where the game is right now, where all of us are,” he said after the round. “I mean, we obviously all want to win. We want to beat the other person. But if we can’t win, we at least want to enjoy it with our friends. I think that we’ll all be able to enjoy this together, and I know it’s going to make them more hungry, just like it did me, [waiting] for Jordan at the British.”

The moral of the story is simple: kids, get a picture with the best athlete on your team. When you’re both famous, you can ride that wave on social media, which is almost as valuable as real life.
