Jordan Leopold's daughter gets her wish

The wish contained in a letter written to the Minnesota Wild front office in January came true on Monday before the NHL's trade deadline.

Jordyn Leopold, the daughter of defenceman Jordan Leopold, sent an impassioned note asking for a way to bring her dad home.

The Golden Valley, Minn., native hadn't been home since November, presumably because of the distance and demands involved in being a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets,

Saying that "we can't take it anymore," Jordyn requests in her letter that the Wild inquire about her dad's availability based on the fact that they had been losing games and appeared to be in need of a d-man.

Her letter, a copy of which was acquired by Minneapolis-St. Paul based radio station KFAN 100.3, took on significant meaning when the Wild acquired Jordan from the Blue Jackets.

Columbus' general manager, Jarmo Kekalainen, indicated that the transaction and the revealing of the letter happened at around the same time, but that he did not see it before the trade.

However, Kekalainen also said that he had already been looking into the possibility of getting Jordan back with his family and that he found the note to be touching.

The Wild also felt moved by the note.

Chuck Fletcher, the Wild's general manager, added that Leopold fills the need for a lefty blue-liner and someone with playoff experience.

No doubt this was a special day for the Leopold family.
