Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews and Toronto Maples Leafs forward Auston Matthews went against each other in a game of ‘call your shot’ for a Bauer stick video shoot.

Though the 19-year-old Matthews is one of the most skilled youngsters in the game, the 28-year-old Toews is a three-time Stanley Cup champion and known as one of the more accurate shooters in the NHL. Last year pulled off an incredible trick shot with a water bottle in another Bauer video

So let’s see how they did going against each other.

For the most part the rookie held his own against Toews.

Matthews got off to a strong start by hitting a water bottle on the boards, then Toews hit the crossbar from the blueline on his first try. Matthews struggled hitting the director’s coffee cup, missing wildly and breaking chairs around the cup.

Toews was challenged to hit a light, and couldn’t break it with the puck so he took it out with his body. Matthews was asked to hit a camera and couldn’t break it, so he took a wild two-handed swing to finally bust the piece of equipment.

The best part came at the end when they took shots at a food table and Matthews ribbed Toews about the Blackhawks captain’s very public love of healthy eating.

Overall it was a fun video – kind of a hockey version of the Larry Bird vs. Michael Jordan showdown, except the winner didn’t get free McDonald’s.
