When will Jonathan Taylor return? Week 7 injury update on Colts RB

The Indianapolis Colts are playing at home for the first time since Week 4 on Sunday with a game against the Miami Dolphins. Indianapolis (3-3) has missed starting quarterback Anthony Richardson and running back Jonathan Taylor on the field since that Week 4 win over Pittsburgh.

Both are recovering from injuries and may be back in the lineup for the Colts' game against the Dolphins (2-3). If Indianapolis can get a win, they'd bank a victory before a tough road trip against Houston and Minnesota. Richardson and Taylor would go a long way to helping that effort.

Here's the latest on Taylor's status for Week 7.

When will Jonathan Taylor return?

Taylor did not practice on Wednesday and said that the biggest hurdle to his return is being able to do necessary movements. This does not bode well for his return in Week 7 and may push it out at least another week.

Taylor said Thursday the pain has gone down but he still has work to do.

When was Jonathan Taylor's injury?

Taylor suffered an ankle injury late in the Colts' 27-24 win over the Steelers in Week 4 on Sept. 29.

Jonathan Taylor stats

Taylor has 72 carries for 349 rushing yards and four touchdowns as well as six catches for 77 receiving yards in four games this season.

Indianapolis Colts RB depth chart

Taylor isn't the only Colts running back with injury concerns this week. Backup Trey Sermon missed practice on Wednesday as well. If he's not able to play, here's how the rest of the depth chart looks at the position:

The Colts also have running backs Trent Pennix and Salvon Ahmed on the practice squad.
