Jonathan Drouin owns Avalanche with monster shift, OT winner (Video)

Some players take over a game. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin does the micro version, which is to take over individual shifts in a game – and sometimes, it’s the most important shift of the night.

Bear witness to this overtime shift from Drouin on Sunday that resulted in the game-winning goal with 3:19 left in overtime, handing the Lightning a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

That might not have done it justice. Here’s the full shift:

That’s a 46-second overtime shift that saw Drouin play in all three zones, culminating in that steal of Matt Nieto and that sweet move to beat Calvin Pickard for that critical second point in the standings for Tampa. It was Drouin’s 17th goal of the season.

Said goalie Ben Bishop: “He wasn’t going to be denied. He was a man on a mission.”

Again, this is just what Drouin does, going all the way back to junior:

Brilliance. And a dude clearly made for the 3-on-3 overtime.
