Jonathan Bernier suffers leg injury against Bruins

The Toronto Maple Leafs kept their playoff hopes alive with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Boston Bruins Thursday night, but may be without the services of goalie Jonathan Bernier for an extended period of time.

With Toronto leading 3-2 around the midway point of the third period, Leafs defenceman Paul Ranger pushed Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron on top of Bernier.

The Leaf goaltender was slow to get up and left the ice without putting pressure on his left leg.

Toronto coach Randy Carlyle hopes the team will learn how severe the injury is after Bernier’s MRI Friday.

Bernier also missed time in March with a groin strain.
